WCC HOMECOMING 72
Phi Beta Lambda and the
Student Government Associa
tion of Wilkes Community Col
lege will be sponsoring “WCC
Homecoming ‘72’ on Saturday,
January 22. This is the first
in the history of our relatively
yoimg school, and we hope to
make it an annual happening
Students throughout the col
lege are getting fired-up about
this event, the objective of
which is to bring all the past
graduates from Wilkes Com
munity College together again.
(Members of Phi Beta Lambda
and other business students
have been working diligently in
mailing out personal invitations
to the alumni. We would like
to thank the Student Personnel
Office and Dr. Thompson for
their co-operation in helping
with the invitations.
Dm- first homecoming queen
will be selected from all the
sophomore nominees. First
runner-up will be presented
with the title of “Maid of Hon
or.” Two other lovely sopho
more girls will be elected to
the court. In addition, three
freshmen girls will be selected
to serve on the court. Members
of the student body will each
have two votes —' one for a
sophomore (the queen) and one
for a freshman attendant. Bach
girl on the court should have an
escort who attends Wilkes
Community College.

Remember, she will be YOUR
queen, and you should have
a voice in her election. Please
vote!
The court will be announced
on Thursday, January 20. The
queen and maid-of-honor will
be announced and crowned at
half time of our Cougar bas
ketball game.
This event will take place at
the Wilkes Y.M.C.A. beginning
at 7 p.m. All alumni will be
asked to sign a register in the
lobby of the “Y” and presented
with a colorful name tag at the
door. There will be no ball
game admission charge for the
alumni and WCC students. At
this time, everyone will witness
an exciting game between our
own Cougar Men and the Mit
chell Junior College Rebels.
Half-time entertainment will be
provided by the Wilkesettes,
the Cougarettes, and the pre
sentation of the queen and
court. This ball game is pre
dicted to be a close and vic-
torius one for our team. So
everyone please come out and
support our team, support our
school, and support our queen.
Directly after the game, an
informal homecoming dance
will begin at the Y.M.C.A.
Great, popular music will be
provided by the H. I. M. from
Washington, North Carolina.
This five-member band consists
of a lead giutar. base guitar,
singer, organ, and drums. They
will be presenting songs which
are popular now from such
famous groups as Grand Funk,
Sly and Family Stone, Steppen-
wolf. Three Dog Night, Rare
Earth, Temptations, Joe Cock
er Little Anthony, and many
more. Admission for the dance
will be 75 cents for all alumni
and WCC students and their
dates.
Classmates, everyone involv
ed in this project has worked
hard, but only YOU can make
it a success. Through your par
ticipation, and enthusiasm, we
can make this a much better
school, and perhaps with a little
luck, even a better world. As
a wise man once said, “If we
try, we can fail honorably;
there is no honor in not try
ing.”
