Twist & Shout Oct. Sixth
Fall Dance Featuring Continental Divide
By Christopher Paul Dirkers
Following only five days after
the new administration building
dedication and inauguration of
President Daniels, both held
October First, will be the first
student body social event of this
Fall Quarter. On October Sixth
from eight p.m. to twelve p.m., a
dance will be held in the
gymnasium of the newly construc
ted administration building.
By Ronnie Jarvis, SGA President
On October 6, 1978 the S.G.A.
of Wilkes Community College
will sponsor a DANCE in the New
College Gymnasium! The dance
will begin at 8:00 and last until
12:00. Entertainment will be
provided by “CONTINENTAL
DIVIDE”, one of the best party
bands on the circuit today. They
have long been a favorite
throughout the Southeast. With a
hard hitting delivery of the latest
disco, top 40 and along with a
beach melody that has guaranteed
CONTINENTAL DIVIDE as a
renowned crowd pleaser. CONTI
NENTAL DIVIDE has had
parties climbing the walls
throughout the Southeast so don’t
miss the best band ever to appear
at Wilkes Community College.
Admission
Student and Faculty-Staff a-
long with date or spouse will be
admitted FREE with Wilkes
Community College I.D. Card!!
All students, as well as their
dates, are welcome to attend and
hear good live music. If you want
to park your vehicle in the lots
down by Thompson and Hayes
Halls, that’s alright, but just
remember to wear sneakers and
carry a flashlight because the steps
from Hayes Hall up the hill are
dark and treacherous at night.
Better yet, drive around to the
parking lot of the new Adminis
tration Building using the access
road on the far side of Lovette
Hall. Try not to park on the side
of the access road though. Doing
so bottle-necks the road to one
lane, and that’s a drag when it
comes time for anyone to leave.
The new gymnasium, although
it will not incur a cover charge for
admission, will also not have all
the amenities of dance halls that
do, like P. B. Scotts in Blowing
Rock. Smoking in the gymnasium
then, and consumption of alcohol
or weed on college grounds won’t
be allowed. But big deal!
Come on out on October Sixth,
enjoy the music, boogy a bit, and
while there meet some other
people. You can think of this
dance at WCC as a clearing house
for people who like to party. Find
out who they are and get your
own gig together after the CC
dance.
