Symphony Concert
On Monday, May 14, at 8:15,
the WCC Symphony held its last
concert of the season in the school
gymnasium. The orchestra played
the first half of the concert,
directed by Jerry Bangle. They
played three delightful selections:
Rosemond, Three Moreside Su
ites, Selections from Showboat.
The second half of the concert
included the orchestra accomp
anying the guest guitarist Gamble
Rogers. This was the first time
Mr. Rogers has attempted to
perform with a back-up orchestra.
Since Gamble Rogers writes most
of his songs or uses songs written
by his friends, there was no
orchestration. A special salute to
Ron Kicasolo for writing the score
for the orchestra accompaniment
to Mr. Roger’s songs is due. The
performance by the orchestra and
Gamble Rogers was superb.

Gamble Rogers
— In Concert
On Tuesday, May 15, at 8:15
p.m., WCC was pleased to have
Gamble Rogers, a folk guitarist as
a special guest in concert. After a
brilliant introduction by Mr. Bill
Moffett, Mr. Gamble Rogers gave
a delightfully wonderful perform
ance. He has a humorous way of
introducing his songs with tales of
places he’s been of people he’s
met. A lot of his songs and stories
come from Florida where he lives.
One way to describe Gamble
Rogers in concert is “Pick’n and a
’Grinn’n”. He really kept the
audience grinning. He sang and
played songs like Orange Blossom
Special, Folsom Prison, and a
song he wrote and named after the
wood of his guitar, “Rosewood”.

ZORREST PENNELL
Elections 1979 W.C.C. Homecoming ’79
“Tight” was the by-word for
the 1979-80 elections, but Dee
Sullivan squeezed through as the
new president. She was the winner
by 6 votes the first time around,
but since that was not a majority,
a “re-vote” between Dee and
Richard Pierce was taken.
Running for the office of
President were Richard Pierce,
Dee Sullivan, and Brian Markle;
for the office of Vice-President
were Mary Nell Nichols and
Randy Bryant; for the office of
Treasurer was Tommy Richard
son; there was no one running for
the office of Secretary. The
winners are as follows: President,
Dee Sullivan; Vice-President,
Mary Nichols; Treasurer, Tommy
Richardson; Secretary, Lena Lov-
ette.
In Sophomore Class elections,
the new officers are as follows:
President, Denise Cleary; Vice-
President, Tommy Williams;
Senator, Andrea Combs. There
was no Treasurer or Secretary.
To all of our new SGA officers,
may we wish you hard work and
good luck!
