During halftime of the game, students, faculty, staff, and alumni enjoyed the 1981 Homecoming Court Pre sentation. All were pleased as last year’s queen. Miss Lena Lovette, crowned Miss Janine Neaves of Ashe County as the 1981 Homecoming Queen. Joining Janine as her court were Miss Denise Rhodes, Maid-of-Honor; Miss Debbie Gwaltney, Sopho more Attendant: and Miss Kim Mecimore, Freshman Attendant. There were many well-deserving contestants, and each felt honored by being chosen. All Sounds Like Greek to Me Auditions for the Greek classic, Medea, are to be held Wednesday, February 11 and Friday, February 13. The production will be done from an original translation by Elizabeth Kelso. Showtimes will be at 8:00 p.m. on April 9, 10, 11, and 12. There will also be a special matinee for the public schools. WCC Who’s Who Selected By: Milce Carlton Personality Profile kicks off the year 1981 with a “very interesting but great personality.” Personal ity Profile brings to its readers, yet another outstanding member of the student body. I’m speaking of Phillip Greene from Deep Gap, North Carolina. Here’s the rundown on Phillip. Phillip attended West Wilkes High School in Millers Creek, North Carolina and graduated from there in 1976. Shortly thereafter, in August of 1976, Phillip joined the United States Army. After the “hard” eight- week military basic training, Phillip was transferred to Frank furt, Germany. While there, he was placed in the military intelligence program. Phillip com mented, “The work was very challenging, and we had to be on our toes at all times.” During the two-and-a-half years in Germany, Phillip played in highly competi tive tennis tournaments for the Frankfurt International Tennis Club. He was also a member of the Frankfurt American Tennis Club whereas he traveled through out Europe. In August of 1979 when Phillip completed his military service, he decided to enter Wilkes Commun- Students for inclusion in Who’s Who in American Junior Colleges were chosen from the Wilkes Community College Sophomore Class on January 5. These students were chosen by a select committee from Wilkes Commun ity College on the following national basis: participation in school activities, scholarship, leadership ability, grade point average, and future usefulness and potential in society. The honor was limited to twenty-two of our sophomores this year, and those individuals selected are: Cheryl Beshears, Nancy Boggs, Billy Bowles, Brenda Bumgarner, Jamie Cline, Mike Cogdill, Debbie Eldreth, Personality Profile ity College. Phillip is enrolled in the College Transfer program working towards his Associate m Arts degree. After graduation, he plans to transfer to one of three colleges - Gardner-Webb, Win gate, or Campbell College. After completing study at a senior institution, Phillip hopes to work for the state department. He also plays intercollegiate tennis here at WCC. Phillip’s hobbies include tennis, skiing, and other physical sports. If you haven’t met Phillip Greene, then you’re really missing a great guy.
