This year’s Fling will be held on Wednesday, April 15, from li:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. Wednesday classes will resume and run as scheduled after 5:00 p.m. The SGA is pleased to announce that our featured band will be SUGARCREEK. WSIF jocks will be acting as Masters of Ceremonies for the day. The Spring Fling will be held on the Dean’s List Full time WCC students who have attained a 3.50 CPA with no “C” or “I” grades qualify for the Dean’s List — published each quarter during the academic year. In case of rain, it will be moved to the gym. Various WCC clubs will be selling refreshments and sponsor ing many zany contests. There will be a tug-o-war across the duck pond, a 3-legged race, a sack race, a relay race, a car bash, a Mr. & Ms. Spring Fling contest, and Toga contest just to mention a few. There will be several other activities taking place and lots of good food on sale, so be sure to be there. See you at the Fling! The annual Student Govern ment and Senatorial election shall be held the last two weeks of April each year. At this time officers of the student Government Associa tion and Sophomore Senators shall be elected. Students of good standing who have a cumulative quality point average of 2.25, maintain a quality point average of 2.00 while in office, and carry twelve (12) credit hours are eligible to hold office. STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION President Vice President Secretary Treasurer SOPHOMORE CLASS ELECTIONS Sophomore class officers shall be president, vice-president, secre tary, and treasurer. These will be elected by the rising Sophomore students only. Sophomore class officers will be elected at the same time as the election of Student Government Association officers. Vice President Secretary Treasurer ELECTIONS OF SENATORS Four Sophomore Senators shall be elected by the students of the rising Sophomore class at the same time the SGA and Sophomore class officers are elected. 4 Senators Eligible students may become candidates for office by filing a petition signed by twenty-five (25) students with the Election Com mittee. These petitions shall be turned in at a time designated by the Elections Committee. The petitions are available in the Student Services Office. The petitions should be picked up by the seventh (7th. April). They must be returned to Student Services by Friday, April 10, at 5:00 p.m. The election is scheduled for Wednesday, April 22 and on Thursday, April 23 from 9:00 a.m. til 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. til 7:30 p.m. A Note from the Easter Bunny by KRISSIE PHIPPS Have you been a good boy or girl this year? Well, whether you have or not Easter is on its way. Fortunately for us students at WCC this means a break. A couple of days away from the books. This holiday follows Spring Fling which is April 15th. The Easter holiday begins Thurs day April 16th and ends April 20th. Classes resume Tuesday, Apiil 21st. Enjoy yourself. Seek your joy in what you give and not what you get. Personality Profile V JANE JOHNSON It is with much regret that the Cougar Cry announces the departure of superb WCC counselor, Jane Johnson. Jane’s final day in Student Services was Friday, March 27. Taking a leave of absence, Jane plans to spend some time with her three-year-old daughter, Saman tha, and further her education in a Graduate program at Wake Forest University. She is pursuing an eventual business career, and seems quite exuberant about the By MIKE CARLTON In this month’s edition. Personality Profile takes the privilege to interview Junius Parsons of Boomer. Junius, better known as “Twin,” is a 1980 graduate of Wilkes Central High School. While in high school, Junius was a member of the track team whereas he was selected all-conference. He was also a member of the Monogram Club and FFA. At WCC, Junius is enrolled in the Hotel-Restaurant Manage ment program. Junius really enjoys this field of study. Junius stated, “WCC has an outstanding opportunity to “take off” and fulfill her aspirations. • In acknowledgement of Jane’s final session as an SGA adviser, a party was given at the March 24th SGA meeting. Flowers were presented and best wishes con veyed at WCC’s governmental body said goodbye to a devoted and loved consultant. Jane will be missed by many who work and learn here at WCC. She is a terrific person who is destined for success in her every undertaking. Godspeed Jane and best of luck in the future. I JUNIUS PARSONS Hotel-Restaurant program.
