Dr. H. Edwin Beam, Interim President
From The President
As the interim president in the
spring of this year, much of my
work relates to closing out the aca
demic and fiscal year, and to short
term planning in areas such as staf-
flng, budgeting, salaries and educa
tional offerings.
Too Httle of my time has been
devoted to meeting and talking
with students. I have done some
and hope to do more. Perhaps
there is yet time, though you are
preoccupied with graduation, the
end of the quarter, or upcoming
summer interests.
Stangers who come to this cam
pus are impressed immediately by
its beauty and obvious community
support. You have a great college
with a wide variety of educational
opportunities from which to choose.
I am aware of much of your col
lege’s history, which includes being
extremely successful with students.
While educational success is not
visible like gardens and buildings,
over time and the accomplishments
of students who enroll here will be
reflected in a very tangible way —
improved social and economic com
munities where we live, work and
play. I encourage each of you to
add to the record of success of
former students.
It’s a great honor to have been
asked to serve as interim president
of Wilkes Community College. It
is great to be a part, even though a
brief part, of your history.
Dr. H. Edwin Beam
