Page 2 - COUGAR CRY - October 30. 1989 Editorial ( Everyday Cooperation | I hope everyone has had an enjoyable first few weeks here at Wilkes Community College. Now that everyone has “settled down” and “settled in” to their schedules and classes, I would like to emphasize cooperation. Not just cooperation with friends and family, but cooperation in all aspects of life. To cooperate, according to Webster’s, is to operate jointly or work together to a common end. This act is very important in everyday interactions and all of us need to improve our ability to cooperate. The most often thought of cooperation occurs between groups. For example, each de partment head, instructor, and student should try to cooperate with the clubs, annual staff, and newspaper staff in order to make our functions and publications at WCC the best possible. This means contributing time, arti cles, photographs, and support to these groups. Likewise, the ] annual staff, newspaper staff, ] and clubs should be considerate ] of the needs and wants of the ( faculty and student body. ( A second example of everyday ] cooperation is the interaction ] between instructors and stu- ] dents. Students should cooper- ( ate with instructors and respect ] their knowledge and abilities. ] Equally, instructors should co- | operate with students, repecting ( their questions and problems as much as possible. , Of course, working together ] and cooperating between fellow j students and fellow workers is a ( must for all of us. A few toes ( may be stepped on, a few tempers ] may be set off, and a project ] may not be finished along the « way, but cooperation is a good ( way to help remedy these mis- ] haps of everyday life. ] Carol Blackburn i Editor ( ( ( ( ( —^ Who Said It First?
