In Memory of
Gary M.cNeil
Mr. Gary McNeil came to Wilkes
Community College in 1971 from the
Wilkes County School System. He
was employed in the Learning Re
sources Division from 1971 until
1986 when he was transferred to Tele-
communications until his time of
death.
Mr. McNeil brought the necessary
expertise to his position that made
him known as one of the top person
nel in North Carolina Com
munity Colleges for electronics and
audio-visual repair. He was always on
the cutting edge of technology. As a
dreamer and planner with the known
expertise he helped Wilkes Commun
ity College to be a futurist. He studied
the area of distant learning and its
impact on educational delivery. He
worked within the Division to acquire
a satellite system for teleconferences
and then transferred into the Tele
communications Department upon its
creation. He was a key resource within
Wilkes County for sound systems and
video. Within the College, Mr.
McNeil never saw a job as being too
big or small and was always a willing
helper.
Mr. McNeil married Mrs. Audrey
Johnson McNeil in 1973. They had
two sons, Christopher who preceded
him in death and Eddie.
A memorial service was held on
Dec. 12, at Pleasant Home Baptist
Church. At the family's request, a
donation can be made to the Chris
topher and Gary McNeil Scholarship
Fund, in lieu of flowers.

to avoid complications with financial
aid deadlines.

lege they have selected. Be sure the
courses you are taking are right for
your specific needs. Contact Larry

Senior College Day
Representatives from many North Carolina senior colleges will be on campus
Wednesday, January 26 from 8:30 until 10:00 a.m. in the Thompson Hall
Rotunda. These representatives will provide information about their respective
institutions and the transfer of Wilkes Community College credits into the
degree programs they offer. This will be an excellent opportunity for transfer
students to learn about the educational programs of these institutions and to see
if they are taking the courses appropriate for their chosen major.
For more information on the Senior College Day Program, contact the
Student Development Office.
