Phi Theta Kappa Induction Announcements
Phi Theta Kappa held a formal
induction ceremony on May 5 to admit
new members. The program
participants included Dr. Barbara Holt,
Advisor; Dr. Gordon Bums, WCC
President; Dr. Rita Rodabaugh, Dean of
Instruction; Dr. Bob Thompson, Dean of
Student Development; Hope Roberson,
Phi Theta Kappa Secretary; and Dora
Hailey, Phi Theta Kappa Treasurer.
The forty students inducted at the
ceremony were Eddie Adams, Rebecca
Allen, Steven Anderson, Joaima
Barelski, Denee Barrett, Jeannie Berry,
Lindsay Boyd, Ginny Bums, David
Calhoun, Justin Church, Cynthia Coffey,
Lorie Cook, Lorie Edmiston, Amber
Glasco, Michelle Gorciak, Renee
Griffin, Kristen Harpe, Carol Hensley,
Jose Hemandez, Landon Hicks III, Jason
Holbrook, Tammy Huffman, Allen
Jones, Jennifer Key, Jason Kingsley, Jeff

Minton, Jane Plaugher, Diana Richardson,

Testerman, Binita Thakkar, Joanne
Vickers, Becky Wike, and Joseph Ziegler.
The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa is to
recognize and to encourage scholarship,
leadership, and service among two-year
college students. To be considered for
membership, a student must be eiu-olled in
a two-year college; have accumulated 24
quarter hours, either part-time or full-time,
day or evening; have achieved a grade
point average equivalent to not less than a
3.50; have established academic excellence
as judged by the faculty; and be of good
moral character and possess recognized
qualities of citizenship.
WCC will be closed on Monday, May 26 in
observance of Memorial Day.
The last day of classes for spring quarter is
Tuesday, May 27. Have a great summer!
Graduation is Thursday, May 29 at 5 PM in
the John A. Walker Community Center. All
graduates must meet at 3:30 PM in the Nan
Davis Van Every Auditorium, which is in the
Walker Center.
Registration for summer term is June 2. This
is also the fu'st day of classes for the summer
term. The last day of classes for the first
session is Friday, June 27. Summer Break is
June 30 - July 4. Classes resume on Monday,
July 7, which is also the first day of classes for
the second summer session. The last day of
classes for the summer term is Friday,
August 1.
Early Registration for Fall Semester is July
29 - August 1. Advisee Day is scheduled for
August 14. Freshman Orientation and
Registration day is August 18 from 9.00 AM
till 4:00 PM. Regular registration for Fall
Semester is August 19 from 9:00 AM till 8:00
PM. First day of classes for Fall Semester is
August 21.
