Page 8 Cougar Cry In The Spotlight David Reynolds (Drama Instructor): David is an Ashe County native who directed his first play at the age of 7. This inspired him to go to school at East Tennessee State University to get his BS Degree in Speech and Drama and then attend UNC-G to obtain an MFA in Theatre. He loves live performances and working with young people, which makes his job a dream come true. He has been working at the WCC stage since 1986. He has also played Judge Henderson in Horn in the West, and has been in two commercials - one for Rose’s and the other was for Major League Baseball. David is also very proud of the recent production he directed that was entered into American College Theatre Festival (ACTF) entitled When You Comin’ Back Red Ryder?. Lindsay Boyd (Sophomore, age 20): Lindsay has played Mrs. Kelly in the musical Annie Warbucks. Lola in Babes in Gangland, and Lady Mac beth in Brush Up Your Shakespeare. Lindsay is also a contestant in ACTF won by her role as Angel in When You Cornin’ Back Red Ryder?. Lindsay plans to attend ASU and major in Applied Communications and get a Masters Degree in Psychology. She will graduate this May with both an AA and a AFA Degree. She has maintained a 4.0 gpa while attending W.C.C. and was Chief Marshal at the 1997 graduation. “Stormie” Sarah Campbell (Sophomore, age 19): Stormie already had five years of theatre expe rience when she arrived at W.C.C. She has played Desdemona and Miranda in Brush Up Your Shakespeare. Virginia in Poe’s Midnight Dreary. Clairesse in When You Comin’ Back Red Ryder?, and Fred’s wife in the musical A Christmas Carol. She also directed The Valen tine Fairy for the Summer Dessert Theatre. She is currently working on directing a show for the Wilkes Playmakers enti tled Rise and Shine to be performed at the end of February and continue into March. Upon graduation she plans to take some time off to travel and explore her options before returning to school and work. Lorie Cook (Sophomore, age 19): Lorie was involved in theatre for three years before attending W.C.C. at North Iredell High School. She has played Grace in Annie Warbuck. Mrs. Dupont in Babes In Ganuland. Kate and a Chorus Member in Brush Up Your Shakespeare, and Mrs. Cratchit in A Christmas Carol during her two years at W.C.C. She was also chosen to go on to the second level of ACTF competition for her role as Evelyn in Zara Spook and Other Lures. She is currently direct ing The Consequences of Goosing for the Sweetheart Dinner Theatre in February. After graduating, she is planning to attend ASU and get a BS in Sociology with a concentration in criminology and social control. Tameika Godwin (Sophomore, age 19): Tameika has been active in drama since high school where she won the Acting Award and a Superlative Student Award. She has played Miss Clark in Annie Warbucks. Sal Monella in Babes in Gangland, Cleopatra and Puck in Brush Up Your Shakespeare and she has also organized the Talent Show. She is currently directing Sausage Eaters for the Sweetheart Dinner Theatre. Tameika is in love with the thrill of performing and her belief in miracles motivates her to dream. She believes dreams come true if you don’t stop believing. Shawn Harmon (Sophomore, age 22): Shawn is rarely seen on stage but is very important to the production of our shows. He was stage manager for Annie Warbucks and When You Comin’ Back Red Ryder? He has also been the technical director for A Christmas Carol and Poe’s Midnight Dreary. 1 le also is nominated to go to the second level of ACTF for his lighting design of When You Comin’ Back Red Ryder?. Shawn works for the JAWCC as their assistant technical director and lighting director. In addition, he has also been the assistant stage manager and assistant props master at Horn In The West. Upon graduation from WCC he plans to attend UNC-G to get a BA in Technical Theatre and then travel with shows for a while. Nat Padgett (Sophomore, age 20): Nat has been active in theatre since the womb and was almost born during a cast party. This explains his passion for acting and partying. He has been active in Community Theatre since 1991. He has played Richard III. in Brush Up Your Shakespeare. Teddy in When You Comin’ Back Red Ryder?, and Edgar Allen Poe (his favorite role) in Poe’s Midnight Dreary. He has also worked for three consecutive summers in the exciting outdoor drama Horn In The West. Nat wonders why he keeps getting cast as a psycho in every production, but I think we all know why! After graduation Nat is reportedly going to attend a four year university somewhere out there and become a famous movie star. Nick Padron (Sophomore, age 19): Nick has played Bob Cratchit in the musical A Christmas Carol. Romeo and Hamlet in Brush Up Your Shakespeare, and Orlando Lakes (his favorite role) in the Dinner Theatre Babes In Gangland. He is also currently direct ing a show entitled Oh. What A Tangled Web for this years Dinner Theatres. When Nick grad uates he plans to transfer to UNC-W and then move to California to pursue a career in tllm. He loves the theatre because he gets to express himself through different characters. (Continued on page 11) §
