Meet WCC’s Cafeteria Staff
By: Daphine Grayum
For those students who have not taken the opportu
nity to frequent our new lunch facilities in the Stu
dent Center building I must ask...
WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN???
Over the summer months WCC upgraded
the cafe’ facilities, making things better not only for
the students but for the cafeteria staff as well. New
equipment has been added, the area is now closed
in (keeping the students from lining across the hall
way), and a new deep-fryer was added.
We now
have french-
fries!!!
(sorry, couldn't help myself!)
I felt that now was
a good time to interview the cafeteria staff and find
out how they like the new facility, what they would like to add or remove and how we [students]
could make their job somewhat easier. Following are some of the responses I received;
Q: How does everyone feel about the new facilities?
A: We really like it! We have more room to prepare the food and the displays for the food is a nice
addition.
Q: Have you had any responses from the students or faculty about the change?
A: Yes. Most have stated that they like it but others wanted to know why we “closed” it. (To help
keep the hall clear.)
Q: Where is the food prepared?
A: All the food is prepared fresh daily in our cafeteria by the ladies.
Q: Does the new arrangement make things easier when serving the students?
A: For the most part it does but if the students would move down the line and prepay while their
order is cooking it would help. The cafe’ ladies are very good about remembering who has or
dered and will get your order to you.
Q: Is there anything else that you’d like for the cafe’?
A: A NEW TOASTER!!! We are still using the old toaster which has forgotten how to pop up the
toast when it’s done. We end up with burned toast at least once every day.
How many of us stop to think of how hard these ladies work every day to prepare breakfast and
lunch for those of us on campus? Show them how much you appreciate them and check to be
sure your tables are clean when you leave. Just that small act of kindness would make their job
much easier each day!.
