Marshals Announced For Wilkes
Community College Commencement
Wilkes Community College announced the students with top academic standings who have been
named as marshals for the 2008 commencement exercise to take place on Tuesday, May 13,2008. The
graduation ceremony will begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Doc and Merle Watson Theatre located on the
Wilkes campus. The following students were selected for this honor.
Barry K. Shepherd, of Millers Creek, is a student
in the Computer Programming curriculum. He is
the son of Raymond and Ann Absher Shepherd
of Linnsborg, KS and a 1985 graduate of West
Wilkes High School. Barry and his wife, Lisa,
have three children, Jeanni, Barry Jr. and Rebecca.
Cougar Cry
Donna Southard Pollard is a student in the
Business Administration program. She graduated
from Northeast Guilford High School in
1980. Donna is the daughter of John and Marie
Southard of Warrens ville, NC. Donna and her
husband, Duane, reside in Crumpler. They have
three children, Danessa Barker, and Dana and
Darius Pollard.
Darin Kent Thomasson, a student in the
Electrical/Electronics Technology program, is
a 2007 graduate of Starmount High School.
He is the son of Donald and Sandra Greene
Thomasson of Hamptonville.
Jason Robert Minton is the son of Robert and
Patricia Huffman Minton of Wilkesboro. He is
a 1996 graduate of West Wilkes High School.
Jason is a student in the Automotive Systems
Technology program.
Lauren Alicia Nixon, of Wilkesboro, is a student
in the Associate in Arts program. She is a 2007
graduate of Wilkes Central High SchooL Lauren
is the daughter of Jack and Nancy Petterson
Nixon.
Deanna Dawn Rutlidge is a 2005 home school
graduate and is a student in the Advertising
& Graphic Design program. Deanna is the
daughter of Barry and Debra Rutlidge of North
Wilkesboro.
