Hinshaw SUBSCRIPTION PRICE SI.OO Address all communications to THE GUILFORDIAN Guilford College, N. C. HAVE YOU PAID UP? Have you enjoyed the Guilf'ord ian this year? Has it come to be a p&rt of Guilford College It) you? Have you watched for its appear ance and wondered who or what would be put on the rack next? Did you subscribe to the paper early in the fall, and promise it your support? If so, don't you think it is time you were considering paying up? It takes money ft) publish the Guilfordian —in fact more money than it took to publish the old Collegian. When the paper start ed it did not secure nearly so many subscriptions among the student body as it should have,/ and of those who did subscribe very few have yet seen fit to pay for their subscriptions. It is a startling fact that not half a doz en boys have yet paid. This is a deplorable state of affairs which we trust will be remedied very soon. It is doubtless due largely to negligence and the very preva lent spirit of "putting off'." It is unnecessary it) say that all debts are debts of honor and should be paid at the earliest opportunity. In plain language we need the money and must get if soon or further publication will be impos sible, st) we are making a personal appeal to you to pay your sub scription within the next week. We feel sure that every student will make an earnest effort t> help us at this time. Thank you! CALENDAR. Thursday: >.:io, regular mid week prayer meetings. Friday: 7.00, Literary Societies. Winston secured only four hits oil of Thayer, but two of these coupled with an error by Miller allowed two runs in the seventh. The features of the game were the home run by Sapp, the fielding of lJoyal at second, and (lit- heavy hitting of the Guilford boys. The team will play Monticello High School on Wednesday at Monticello and Winston Highs will be played here on Thursday. Y. W. C. A. NOTES. The- regular Y. W. C. A. meet ing for April 8 was led by Laura Davis, chairman of the mission ary committee. After a Bible reading and short talk by the leader, reports were given for the mission study work this year. A girl was chosen from each class who gave most interesting sum maries of the text studied. In this way every one could- learn some thing of other countries than the one studied. The attendance at classes has not been very good, but we hope that by means of some plans that the committee may adopt for an other year they may be made more effective. Luna ('ox conducted the meet ing on Thursday, April 15, on the subject, "lie Square." The sub ject itself sounds interesting and (lie leader did not fail It) make it so. She mentioned the three acts namely, saying, doing and being in which we should be square with ourselves and then we would be square with others. She said there were two ways of bluffing; one is to pretend to be better than we are and the other is to pretend to be worse than we really are. Both of these pretensions have their effect. We do not want to practice deceit in any way. We want our influence ft) be for good, then do we strive to be square in the things that we do? But most of all should we be square in what we are. In this busy world where we are oftentimes judged on the spur of the moment are we per fectly square and honest with our selves ? W.H.
