After three successive victories from Elon, the University of North Carolina, and Lenoir re spectively, we met our lirst and overwhelming defeat at the hands of the Wake Forest aggregation here last Friday afternoon by a one-sided score of 17 to 2. The game was completely lacking in everything that even remotely re sembled a baseball game between two representative college teams. It has lieen said, and truly said, that every ball player has his "off days," but somehow all of our men had their "off day" last Fri day. Worth began the pitching for our boys, but because of wild ness, he was replaced by Morris in the second inning. Morris twirled for four- or live innings, and then Finch went into the box and somewhat checked the heavy hitting. All three of these men did not allow less than tifteen hits. These tifteen hits coupled with several costly errors 011 the part of our boys were the cause of the Raptists making seventeen runs. Captain Short again led the batting for our team, getting two hits out of four times to the bat. Futrell, Garner and Royal got one hit each. This was ex pected to be one of the best and hardest fought games of the sea son 011 our home grounds, but to the disgust of the many spectators who came from Greensboro, High Point and Winston-Salem to see the contest it proved to be one of the worst exhibitions of baseball that has ever been pulled off at Guilford College. This is how it happened: Guilford. AB. R.H.E.
