In every college we find fwt classes of students who have ai entirely different attitude towar all college activities and organiza lions. These are the knockers am the boosters. The knockers are I hose whos sole purpose is to find fault. Tlica have no definite aim in view am never offer a better solution for ; problem but can always point on the mistakes made by others They do it not with the idea o doing any real harm, but it is jus their habitual method of expres sion and is usually caused by bad temper or by poor digestion. Opposed to the knockers are tin boosters. They have a good wort for everybody and everything Their business is to help and mor is accomplished by their smile am contagious enthusiasm than b; twice the amount of criticism. The last named class are thos most to be desired in college, fo with only a few such students in 1 crested in the college they wil make the various organization! successful. Such students beeonn the leaders in college, are the lif' of all student activities, and an much more appreciated than flu knockers. Moral: If von want fo be j lelper and he appreciated by your associates, follow the advice of the near poet who said : 'Boost and the world boosts with you. Knock and you are on the shelf. For the world gets sick of tin* one who'll kick. And wishes he'd kicked himself, '•Boost, for your own achieve nients, Boost for the things sublime. For (lie one who is found on the topmost rung, Is the booster, every time." Y. W. C. A. NOTES. This week the prayer meeting service was short and impressive. As her subject Miss Edwards chose The Abiding Love of Christ. To illustrate what makes our lives beautiful and unselfish she told the story of Vera. This poem of Van 1 >yke's tells how a little deaf ;iikl dumb girl marvelled :il the strange effect of sounds, which sb" did not understand, had on the faces and act ions of people. One day, after she saw a woman with heaving breast and bright eyes by moving her lips bring "deep delight on every face and tears of joy in many eyes," she went to one great master who her understand Iliese gave her the sense of hearing and the gift of speech. This did no: satisfy and the master later gave her the power of reading men's thoughts. Willi these powers she found all wicked motives in thought and speech of men ; so dis couraged she returned to the mas ter and begged him to make her deaf and dumb again. The .Master then told Vera that there was yet one gift which would explain all these disappointments. What the Master told her she could never tell but when the master asked her "What hearest thou?" She an •swered "Love!" "For love is life and they who do not love Are not alive. For every soul that loves Lives in the heart of (Jod and hears Him speak." PERSONALS.
