LETTERS TO GUILFORDIAN. (Nothing under this head is neces sarily endorsed by the Board or any ! member.) WHY NOT SOME HEAT NOW? Whew! Why in the world can't I have some heat in my room? Found ers will soon be filled with sick boys, gut surely just studying in a cold room couldn't give a fellow a cold. I guess what I miss here I'll catch in the library reading tihose books and books that can't be removed. But there's a bright side to that; I might be so fortunate as to get to the hot end of one of the few radiators in the library that get hot at one end. The higher coal gets the colder we get, but sudh is life. We can at least be thankful that the odoriferous peaches and cream heat in King Hall is practically odorless, now. UNCLE MUNN'S CORNIER. DEAR IDIOTORIAL BORED: I think your blessed paper's on the blink, and if I cussed you all I should, t'would take about a quart of ink. Your editorials are punk, the articles are mostly bunk, and if it wer'mot for me your sheet would not be worth its weight in junk. (A decent self respect prevents us from printing any more of this. We kicked Uncle Munn, sent him home and told him to try again. The ex perience seems to have sobered him for he came back with the following. He asked us to sing it, but we re fused.) O Guilford, fair, immortal Thy children cal'l to thee To open wide the porta'l Of learning's mystery Where burns thy lamp forever In wisdom's holy shrine, O help our weak endeavor To light our lamp with thine. Upon thy knees maternal We listen to the story Of life and truth eternal And wisdom's goal of glory. Thy life is full of flowers Whose petals all are we, We wither with the hours Thou bloom'st immortally. The sinking sun adorning The grey and crimson skies In evening or in morning Thy colors greet our eyes. With autumn's crimson s,plendors Or winter's coat of grey The changing year engenders Thy banner grave and gay. Thy colors proudly wearing We've struggled in thy name On many a field of daring To guard thee from all shame. Thy brood around thee gathers, Oh hear us while we pray, As thou hast taught our fathers Teach us again tocfay. Take us all undeserving And guide our steps arlgnt, With love to thee unswerving To lead us to the ligtht. THOMAS WAKEFIELD THE LEADING GROCER. Candies, Cakes, Student Supplies, Shoes and Rubbers.
