Guilford goose egged the sturdy sons of 'A. and E., last Friday at Cone Park in the fastest game of the season by a count of 3 to 0. The game was quickly and cleanly staged, the time required for the perform ance of the nine acts being only one hour and forty minutes. Not a mis cue was registered against either team, "which is a decided, marked and distinct innovation for college ball." The splendid hurling of Mur chison was in a large part responsi ble for the utter defeat of the Farm ers and Engineers hailing from Ral eigh. He caused fourteen to bite the dust, and wonder how a ball could be made to cut up such capers. Be side pitching a wonderful game, he drove out a double, a single and a sacrifice in four times at bat. The Quakers put themselves into the run column in the third inning, when Massey singled and was forced at second by Garner; Marlette stroll ed, and Duncan sent a skyward one to the right garden on which Garner advanced to the hot corner. Mar lette then took second, and Newlin drove out a bingle which scored Gar ner. Marlette, attempting the same feat, was nipped at the plate. Guil ford increased her lead in the sixth when Newlin received a free pass, took third on Murchison's bingle, then performing a rare feat, Murchi son and Newlin worked the dual steal, Newlin counting. The final tally came in the eighth frame, when Duncan singled, advanced on a put out and scored on Murchison's double. The Aggies threatened to score in the ninth, when Wheeler singled and Miller doubled, with one down, but Murchison tightened up and dimmed their hopes by striking out Johnson and disposing of Wharton on an easy roller. Practically the entire student body witnessed the game, inspiring the players with a rare exhibition of en thusiasm and "pep." Box score and summary: A. and E.
