NINE LIVES SAVED. Science For Once Grows Sentimen tal. In these days when life is held so cheaply it is gratifying to learn that feminine wiles have saved another victim from an unmerited death. A. certain cat well known for its un blemished character and regular hab ius was captured recently by the Biology Department. Prof. Rogers acting as judge, jury, council for the prosecution and executioner con demned the cat to death. When the news became known great indigna tion was expressed. New Garden cried out with one voice "Curfew shall not ring tonight." A well known cat fancier of Founders quo ted the famous lines: "Ding dong bell, Pussy's in the well, Rogers go to, the same place." A meeting was held and plans ma tured for swearing out a writ of "habeas corpus." Both force and law however finally gave way to strategy. A delegation was sent to the death chamber to announce that the cat belonged to a certain lady member of the faculty. Mr. Rogers either thru chivalry or thru fear of the sup posed owner granted full pardon and released his prisoner. He is said to be somewhat confused by the fact that the cat has renewed its no madic habits far from its fair pro tector. GUILFORD SC RUBS DEFEAT WINSTON HIGH (Continued from first page) pace of the first two quarters and neither was in danger of scoring. The quarter closed with the pigskin in Winston's possession on her 30-yard line. In the last quarter a strong offen sive was uncorked by the scrubs, which placed the ball on Winston's 35-yard line where Barnard made a beautiful attempt at goal. The ball, however, struck the cross bar. After an exchange of punts, Marlette forced Kirk outside on Winston's 35-yard line. After another exchange of punts Crute made a brilliant dash over the scrubs left tackle and placed the ball just forty-seven yards from Guilford's goal, thus, the whis le blew as Winston invaded the scrubs territory for the first timo during the entire game.
