"Let knowledge grow from more to more, But more of reverence in us dwell, That mind and soul according well, May make one music as before." —Tennyson. PREPARE FOR LEADERSHIP. The world today is rull of oppor tunities. These opportunities are challenging each individual and most of all the college trained men and women. In the great upheaval which seems imminent, leaders are going to be needea. These leaders will be necessarily be those who have been well trained either in col lege or life. This applies to every student here at college. If we fail to seize our opportunities of today we are probably losing our chance of being one of the leaders of to morrow. Even tho the task may seem im possible to accomplish it will serve a 6 the guiding star for our ambition. Eventually it may become possible and then, think how much easier the next task may be. Quoting from one of our recent chapel talks, "which is better—to aim at the impossible thing and fail, or seek a lower plane and succeed?" We do not feel that there can be much doubt in anyone's mind as to which alternative each of us prefer. If we aim at the high er and fail, we certainly will have the greiater sense of well doing. These principles apply to our school work very effectively. We can place our ideals on the higher plane and try our best to succeed and then perhaips this higher plane 'may be possible after all. Higher ideals in our college life are what we need. Let us each try to raise them as best we can and help make our college worthy to answer the world challenge for trained, efficient leaders. We "wish to address a few words to the friends of the college who patronize our paper. We are al ways very glad indeed to have them write to us and give suggestions for the improvement of the paper. We follow these suggestions in so far as we consider it possible. Recent ly some communications have been received which implied that we would not respect these suggestions. We hoipe that none of the patrons feel thus. We always respect all such suggestions. However, it is sometimes impossible to follow them out to the letter and we trust our readers will be lenient and not judge us too hastily if we fail to act as they suggest at once. Our means are somewhat limited, but we strive to give the best possible satifsaction and we hope for the tolerance of our readers as well as helpful sugges tions. Successful meetings of any organ ization depend upon co-operation. At the recent meetings of the Y. M. C. A. the absence of faculty members leads us to say that their presence inspires and creates a more intense interest in the meetings.
