PROP. ANSCOMBE ADDRESS THE Y. M. C. A. ON "THE CALL OF CHRIST. The speaker said in beginning that Jesus Christ went about seek ing men while on earth. He at tracted them as no other man ever did. The tax collector left his books, the fishermen left their nets, and followed Him immediately. Why did those men follow Christ and thousands of others since then? First, it was a personal invitation. Personal talk was a great thing in the life of Jesus. He liked to min gle among men. Jesus gives to you a personal call. He is extending a personal call to everybody. He himself came to seek and to save, and He comes to each and everyone of us with an invitation to accept Him. Jesus said, "Follow me." He did not drive people, but went before them. He is merely asking you to live the same kind of life He did. To be associated with Him is all He asks peaple to do. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. He is the greatest leader we can have, a born leader of men, and He is call ing to us today to follow Him. Christ will lead us into service. If you follow Him you must do some thing. He went about doing good and not merely dreaming about do ing good. Work for Him is an en joyment. He says, "Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord." Again He will lead you to sacri fice. We must make sacrifices to fol low Him. There is a parting of the ways. We must give up some of our desires, but we will be repaid for it. The compensation is great, he says. No man has left father, mother, brother or sister that shall not be repaid a hundred-fold. /AT ASIANS DISCUSS IMMIGRATION On Friday evening, March 5, the Zatasians enjoyed a very interesting and helpful program. The debate, "Resolved, That the U. S. should adopt a policy of far ther material restriction of immi gration," showed much study and preparation. Miss Johnson success fully upheld the affirmative by three main points: (1) Present conditions in the U. S. demand a change in our immigration policy, providing for further material restriction; (2) The present day immigration is as a whole undesirable, constituting as it does a grave menace to the life of the American democracy; (3) Far ther material restriction of immi gration is in complete harmony with the principles underlying our demo cratic form of government. Miss Richardson defended the negative with the following points: (1) The present laws restricting im migration are sufficient; (2) Fur ther material restriction of immigra tion would prove unwise from the standpoint of American labor, capi tal and public; (3) An examination of the so-called evils of the new im migration shows that they are either exaggerated or are not existing; (4) That further material restriction of immigration would be contrary to the principles which have guided America and which underlie our democracy. Miss Edith Harrison then told us "Our Duty to the Foreigners," say- ing that because the foreigners are in our borders we must help them by education. Miss Neece next unfolded the fu ture of the Zatasian girls by means of a prophecy.
