Zachary, 1912. is head of the Department of Agriculture in the Ba hama Farm Life School of Bahama, Durham County, N. C. Henry A. Doak 1908, is Professor of English in the University of North Dakota—Address University Station, Grand Forks, N. D. Oma Gray, 1917, holds a respon sible position in the office of the Directory of the Treasury-Commis 'sioner of Public Debt, Washington, D. C. She expresses a desire to be at commencement and meet old friends again. Ada M. Fields, 1898, writes the Secretary of the Alumni Association a real Guilfordian letter, parts of which we feel impelled to quote: "Inclosed find ballot and check for dues—also greetings and all good wishes for the Association and for Guilford. I wish it were possible to be with you at commencement, but it is not possible this year. "I have been connected, as stu dent or instructor with a number of other institutions since leaving Guilford, but Guilford still stands to me for a homelike and very beau tiful association that I have found nowhere else in quite the same way. The small college has advantages for the undergraduate student that the large one cannot possibly have, and I hope we shall all work together enthusiastically and unitedly to help Guilford go forwai'd. All endowed instituttons are in difficulty now, — some far more embarrassed than Guilford is. The responsibility for tiding them over rests first of all upon those who are the children of these institutions. It is a service not only to the institution and its present students but to the future of society and I believe we as loyal Guilford ians will measure up to the job. I am very happy to be one of you." Baxter N. Richardson, 1013, and Helen East Richardson, 1914, are living at 326, W. Jackson Street, Springfield Illinois. Baxter is in charge of Public Health Instruction for the State of Illinois with the title of Cheif of the Division of Public Health Instruction Depart ment of Public Health. Mrs. East writes rather caustically of the "slip shod methods of record keeping and mailing which are indulged in by the people who are intrusted to see to it that Guilfordians are mailed to Alumni who have paid their fees and expect the paper regularly." "I have l'eceived four copies this year all much belated —one of which was addressed correctly. I know that others are similarly irritated." we regret the fact that subscribers are failing to get their numbers of the Guilfordian regularly. The mailing list of Alumni is made from the rec ord supplied by the secretary-Treas urer of the Association and should be correct. Just where the fault, lies we are not able to say and how change of address appears is still more of a puzzle. We shall, how ever, make an effort another year to deliver the Guilfordians, properly addressed, to the tender mercies of Uncle Sam with the hope he sends them through. The managers of the Guilfordian wish to deliver the is sues promptly and certainly agree with the sentiment expressed, ' 1922 QUAKER STAFF ELECTED. Hodgin, Business Manager; Newlin, Editor-iii-Chief. At a recent meeting of the Junior class, the 1922 Quaker staff was elected. S. Gladstone Hodgin was unanimously elected Business Man ager. Each member of the class was then considered a nominee and a vote was taken. J. Curtis Newlin received the highest number of votes and was declared elected Editor-in chief. The six receiving the next high est number of votes were as follows. Edna Raiford, H. Grady Mcßane, Ruth Outland, Elizabeth Yates, Mable Ward and Hugh White. These members will serve as associate ed itors. The class has already begun work on the Quaker for next year and it is hoped that a creditable book can be put out. GIRLS' ATHLETICS (Continued from page 1. days. This Spring, on account of the numerous events which come every Spring, not enough girls have been out to make four teams but those who have played have acquired much skill in the sport. During the winter months basket ball and volley ball were the leading sports. The basket-ball season was the most saitsfactory they have ever had. More than seventy-five per cent of the girls were present on all the regular practice days. Two public games were played—one be tween the new and old girls and the class championship game. The tennis manager has stimulated much interest in tennis this year. New nets and balls have been purchased in the four girls' courts have been kept in splendid condition. Both in the fall and spring, tennis tournaments have beep played. Dur ing the past two weeks there have been two tennis tournaments in which boys and girls have played-to gether. During the month of April an .inter-High-School girl's basket-ball contest was held at the college by the girl's Association. A silver cup was awarded to the winning team. Although the Association has not accomplished all that it hoped too, however, the interest which has been shown, means that a good begin ning has been made and that next year should be a great year in the history of "Girl's Athletics" for Guilford. The President has had a splendid working cabinet this year and to them belongs a great part of the credit for this year's success. The letters and monograms which were won for the year 1919—1920 and were not awarded previously have been given by this year's cabinet. Under the hiking department, four girls have walked the distance of 400 miles and will be awarded "G's". These are Hazel Richardson, Allene Johnson, Shelly Clodfelter, and Isla Willis Thompson. Miss Ghita Tuttle has walked the distance of 200 miles and will be awarded a "G.C." arm-band. Six girls will be awarded letters in basket ball. These are Eurie Teague, Nellie Allen, Marianna White, Marion Ward, Edna Raiford and Dovie Hayworth.
