IP QUAKES
B, J CARRUTHERS and TAYLOR
Monday night tlie Quaker basketball |
team plnyed its last game in the local
gym with a great light against a super-,
ior Elon five. Jack Hartley and Larry \
llenglietti were standouts in their final j
home game. "Moe" Inman, always a
steady player, just about stole the
show. In fact, the whole team gave
a brilliant performance. We might add
that we have seen no other player
improve as much this year as Herb
Schoellkopf. Herb started the season
as a substitute, but really began to J
shine about mid-season. Hats off to
you, Herb!
The North State Conference tourna
ment got underway Thursday at High
Point college and the finals will be j
played tonight. Guilford played Ca- j
tawba Thursday afternoon, but this j

We are still playing basketball, anl
are now having the class tournament,
a round robin among freshmen, sopho
mores, juniors and seniors. We went
to practice last week, and after a lit
tle confusion we all elected captains.
The freshmen picked Judy Nelson;
sophomores, Mary Belle Clark; juniors
chose Jnne McCulloch, and Mary Anna
Jessup leads the seniors on to another
of their well-known victories they
hope.
We've had two practices, so we know
all the plays and everything—except
those of us who take modern dance in
stead of basketball in phys. ed. We
feel sort of lost—because of being aw
fully sore in the funniest places.
We hope you'll all come out and see
the class games, so here's the schedule:
February 25—Fresh, vs. soph.
February 27—Juniors vs. seniors.
March 4—Seniors vs. soph.
March 6—Fresh, vs. juniors.
March 9—Fresh, vs. seniors.
March 11—Soph. vs. juniors.
All games state at 4:45 p.m., so come
on time and get a good seat.
By the way. last but not least, in
the dormitory tournament, Grumpy
"trailed" Dot Jessup into the linals,
but Dot got away and won the tour
nament by a score of 14-8. A consola
tion tournament was also played for
the unfortunates who lost in the first
round. Mary Belle Clark's team won
over the Binfords. (Score 23-21.)
