Johns and Kails light for the ball, which Kalis eventually got. The team went on to an upset victory by the score of 61-59. The lower left hand corner shows one of the starting lives, composed of Kalis, Chatham, Venable, Johns and Kerrell. Ked KieJiardson, Catawba's star player, upper right hand, puts in a one-hander in the> game here which ended in a heartbreaking 54-53 score. The two seniors who have played their last game for (iuilford are Brooks Hansard and Jack Chatham. On the next page is Jase Ralls in the upper left, who was named as the 6;{rd Athlete of the Week by the Greensboro Daily News as a result of his playing in the flrst Hanes game. The picture below needs little explanation. After seven years of wait ing, hoping, and praying, we beat Catawba. In the first round of the North State Tournament at Elkin, the Quakers upset first-seeded Catawba to advance to the second round of the tourney. March 19, 1949
