In a little over two weeks, many of us will be home and looking forward to three months of glor ious vacation. When these three months are up, the majority of us will be back, settling down once more to the job of acquiring an education. But one group will not be back —a very important group and one ihat we will miss in all phases of our campus life—the class of '55. This coming week will be set aside as Senior Week and during this time we can show the deep appreciation we feel for this group. Then will come the day of graduation. On that day they will cease to be college students and will become men and women of the world, completely on their own. We know that this graduating group has what it takes to sue ced. We do not wish to say "Good bye" to these seniors because we hope they will return to visit us many times in the future. In stead we say, "Good luck and success to all of you." FLASH! It has been reported to us that the thesis written by Marie Brew er and Ed Brooks was successfully defended by Marie at the North Carolina Academy of Science. This thesis, written on "The Study and Effect of Salmonella Typhi murium on the Acquired Resist ance of Mice to Trichinella Spiral is," won first prize in its class. Congratulations to Marie and Ed. FULL SPEED AHEAD of the year. It is now that we lay I the groundwork for all we are to ' do next year. Many problems are confronting the new members of the various ; campus organizations. It seems a great deal easier for us, as in dividuals to ignore these pro blems and to think, "we can worry THE GUILFORDIAN SENIOR SP Raymond E. Chalkley Ray Chalkley was born in Wash ington, D. C. With the building program beginning to roll into full swing and the future to think about it seems this is the time to really dig in and work.
