William B. Edgerton
Speaks At Guilford
This past summer, William B.
Edgerton was one of the six Ameri
can Quakers who made an exten
sive two months tour through the
Soviet Union.
Mr. Eager ton graduated from
Guilford in 1934 with honors. He
was awarded a scholarship to
Haverford, receiving his M. A. in
1935. He is a past member of the
Guilford faculty and of the Per
kiomen School in Pennsylvania.
At the present time, Mr. Edgerton
tenches at State College in Penn
sylvania.
Mr. Edgerton spoke at Guilford
this past Friday, October the 7th,
on his trip to Russia. He showed
many interesting slides of the

Student Union
Under Construction
Growth! With growth in our
student body and spirit., physical
improvements and growth in the
school plant are necessary.
The sidewalk to the corner which
was the boys' unfinished project
last May Day was completed by
the college workers this summer.
Other new sidewalks include those
poured around the ends of Cox
Hall.
More of the modern Frazier
apartments were added, and one
by one the old pre-fabs were torn
down.
The renovation of Founders Hall
has been of major interest to all
students. Besides the new dining
hall with its modern facilities, the
infirmary and home economics
labs are being completed. The
new dining hall was opened at
the end of orientation week.
The ground floor of Shore Haii
is now a modern playroom,
kitchen, and storage facility room.
Ping pong and luxurious furniture
have been added. This room is for
Guilford women only. Spart clothes
are allowed when lounging there.
The ground has been broken foi
long-awaited Student Union build
ing which will probably be com
pleted for use next semester or
next year.
All of these improvements sig
nify the growth of our school.
These along with many others
highlight the Guilford College ex
tended building program.
