Dottie Alley

Our lovely Homecoming Queen
is Dottie Alley. Dottie is from
Goldsboro and is a freshman this
year. Her major is Sociology. Dot
tie has an impressive list of acti
vities and interests. In high school
she held both class and school of
fices, was co-editor of the year
book, a member of the Beta club
and Quill and Scroll, and strangely
enough Homecoming Queen. Dot
tie oilpaints, enjoys music and flow
er arranging, decorating as well as
sports. She enjoys traveling and on
graduation hopes to go into social
work.
Maid of Honor
Donna Newman
Maid of honor, Donna Newman
hails from Greensboro, Donna is
nineteen years old and is a sopho
more majoring in elementary edu
cation. She has been associated
with Guilford College since her
birth by being a member of the
First Friends Meeting on Friendly
Road. Experience in her major
field, elementary education, has
been developed through her in
structing in Bible school, the nur
sery, and pre-school Sunday school
classes.
Entering as a freshman in 1964,
Donna fulfilled the duties of fresh
man representative on the Student
Legislature and was a member of
the Traffic Committee. Preceed
ing her enrollment as a Guilford
ian, she was a student at Grimsley
Senior High School where she was
an honor student graduating with
the silver and gold stars. A home
room offirei for three years, Donna
was on the Student Council, the
PTSA board, and was President of
the Junior Class. She was inducted
into Torchlight National Honor
Society her junior year and was
elected Vice-President her senior
year. A member of the History
Honor Society and the Greensboro
Little Orchestra Guild, Donna
toured New York, Nassau, and the

Nancy Merrltt
Bahamas with the Greensboro
choir. She received the citienship
award from her class and held
membership in the Junior Civinet
te Club of which she was treasurer.
She held the senior class superla
tive of friendliest, was junior maid
of honor on the May court, and
was on the Homecoming court.
Donna enjoys cooking unusual
foods, sewing, bicycle-ridng, walk
ing, and modern dancmg.She is, at
the present, a member of the
Greensboio Junor Spinsters. Fol
lowing graduation, she plans to
teach in the elementary school.
Meha is ? junior and is another
of our elementary education ma
jors. Originally a native of Greens
boro, she now resides in Statesville.
In high school Meha was an honor
student and a member of the Beta
Club. Meha is now a cheerleader
and serves on the social committee.
Meha, likes all active sports, parti
cularly swimming, waterskiing, and
volley ball. She also likes to cook
and camp. After completing her
education Meha will teach third
grade.
Nancy Merritt
Nancy Meritt is a 19 year old
sophomore elementary education
major from Mt. Airy. Nancy has
traveled extensively both here and
in Europe. She attended the Ameri
can School in Switzerland where she
studied language. Her European
tour included camping and afford
ed an opportunity for study on a
people to people basis. Nancy in
terests include swimming, skiing,
and even knitting. She is also a
cheerleader and enjoys art. Upon
graduation Nancy hopes to leach
third grade.
Bede Walker
Bebe is a junior English major
from Greensboro. Bebe enjoys and
participates in many sports, parti
cularly those associated with water.
After graduation she hopes to teach
English and physical education at
the high school level.
