GOOD LUCK ON EXAMS Vol. LIV Leg. Fills Commiliee Vacancies The Student Legislature filled two vacancies on student-faculty committees at its Monday night meeting in the Leake Room. Bob Milan was elected by the legislature to fill a vacancy on the Athletic Committee. Craig Chapman was named to the Curriculum Committee. Student Government President Dan Hulburtreported that several committees similarly concerned with proposing a unit of living system had merged. Craig Chapman, chairman of the newly merged committee, reported that under the unit of living rule, each dorm would be a unit which would draft a con stitution regarding such items as drinking, social hours, quiet hours, and women's hours. Chapman announced that the target date for presentation of the committee's proposal has been moved from the Jauary3lst Trustee meeting to the March 31st Trustee meeting. He added that there will be open forums to discuss the final committee proposal before it is submitted to the Student Legis lature. The proposals were sub mitted to the department chair men, who will determine if the proposed system is feasible. Instead of an average course load consisting of five three hour courses, under the new system a student would take four four hour courses each semester. MIG sentenced the student to iisciplinary probation for the remainder of his academic career with the provision that he be allowed to play football. Two other students were con victed on charges of being in a woman's dormitory after clos ing hours. They were given re primands. In a special meeting last Mon iay night, the MIG Judicial Board decided to call a meeting of MIG ifter the semester break to in terpret the MIG Constitution's provisions for the removal of officers. The committee's interpreta tion will determine whether im peachment proceedings against MIG Vice-President Phil Edger ton should be heard by MIG or all men students. With the exception of Edgerton, who maintained that the wording of the MIG Constitution clearly indicated that he should be tried by all the men students, the Judicial Board members con curred in the decision. Proceedings against Edgerton stem from his alleged part in an incident involving the presence of Martha Robertson in the par lor of suite C-31 in the 1968 Men's Dorm during Homecoming Weedend. Hut Hears Jug Band Anne's Bradstreet Band pre formed in an informal concert last Monday night in the Hut. Musicians Jenny Blizzen, Wal ter Fordham, Linda (Ralph) Ep stein and Phil Sanders entertain ed with traditional folk and blues pieces--jug band complete with jug. and kazoo--and original-- materials, including Ralph's "The C-31 Game" which roman ticized the crimes and trials of Martha Robertson who was con victed last month of being in the parlor of suite C-31 in New Men's Dorm. RW | is Coming § No. 15 gerton, who was summoned by an R.A. who heard a woman's voice in the C-31 suite to watch the door of the suite until the head resident could be lo cated, warned the occupants of the suite about the head resident's impending arrival. PROBATION GIVEN In a WSC Judicial Board trial, Miss Robertson was found guilty of being present in the suite parlor and sentenced to disciplinary probation until May. Moulton Avery and Evan Davis were tried on charges of per mitting Miss Robertson to occupy the suite parlor. They were convicted and given reprimands. Charges against two other men students involved in the case, David Angell and Rafael Arrieta, were dropped. Following are excerpts from the MIG Constitution explaining membership and impeachment: Article III: Membership Section A: All male resident students are members of the Men's Inter-Dormitory Govern ment and as such they are en titled to attend all regular meet ings of the Men's Inter- Dormitory Government. Article IX: Removal of Of ficers and Representatives Section A: The failure to maintain no less than a cumu lative academic average of 1.00 will automatically discharge a representative or an officer from his duties. Section B: Any representative who fails to attend two con secutive Men's Inter-Dormitory Government meetings without ap pointing an assistant to repre sent his section or floor is automatically removed from his lepresentative position. Section C: Any Officer or Representative of the Men's Inter-Dormitory Government may be expelled from the body by two-thirds vote of the total membership. Section D: Any charge brought against an Officer or Representative of the Men's Inter-Dormitory Government must be presented before the Men's Inter-Dormitory Govern ment and any Officer or Rep resentative subject to expulsion shall have the full opportunity to defend himself. Section E: All dormitory gov ernments shall operate in a simi lar manner. Article X: Replacement of Of ficers and Representatives Section A: Officers In case of the removal of the President from Office, or of his resignation or inability to discharge the powers and duties of said office, the same shall devolve upon the Vice- President. Student Legislature of Guilford College may provide for a vacancy in the offices of President and Vice-Presi dent of the Men's Inter- Dormitory Government. The Men's Inter-Dormitory Govern ment may provide for a vacancy in the office of the President and Vice-President of the dor mitory governments.
