New Food
Service
Discussed
The possibility of changing
food services was discussed by
the student legislature at the
meeting of April 20.
Joel New announced that
there was a possibility that indi
vidual charges for board may be
increased by S4O.
Dale Mandel resigned his
position as chairman of the food
committee after a brief speech
on the lack of student interest
and support. John Andrews was
elected to replace Mandel.
The Members of the legisla
ture voted to table discussion on
the matter of food services and
prices until May 4 when the
food committee could give a
report.
At the May 4 meeting legisla
tors will decide whether to re
tain or to renew the school's
contract with ARA Slater Food
Company or to open a new
contract with Saga Food Serv
ices.
Trustee Report
Dan Hulburt reported on the
meeting of the Board of Trustees
held April 25. Hulburt is an
observer of the board meetings.
Hulburt explained that Units
of Living could go into effect
only if it received the support of
two thirds of the resident stu
dents in a campus wide election.
This election will be held May
11.
Hulburt announced that ac
cording to North Carolina state
laws students could not drink
alcoholic beverages anywhere
except in their private rooms. He
was not sure whether or not
drinking was permitted in the
suite parlors of 1968 dorm.
Women's Hours
Legislators also discussed the
decision of the Administrative
Council to recommend the rota
tion system of self-regulation in
spite of the majority support for
the key system.
SAC Reply
A petition requesting the
repeal of an Honor Board
verdict of guilty for the offense
of plagiarism was rejected by
the SAC at a meeting held
April 28.
The student's petition was
rejected as being without merit
and the penalty of a failing
grade for the course remains in
effect.
The SAC said that a plea of
ignorance of plagiarism stand
ards is not a valid defense for a
junior at Guilford College.
