Greensboro and Elon have a floating holiday system where employees can choose between King's holiday and other days off. Davidson, High Point and Shaw have not declared King's birthday a holiday. One option explored was whether King should be celebrated or if the day should be set aside as one of celebration and education about others who have won civil rights. "I wonder if some celebration which may be needed for itself would distort [what King has meant to civil rights]," political science professor Bill Schmickle said. "I haven't decided myself where we ought to go with this." Poteet said that "within a short time" there will be a recommen dation from Administrative Coun cil concerning the issue. A table has been set up in Founders Hall con cerning this major. •Student Loan Fund Auc tion is formulating a list to match those who are avail able for solicitation with those who are available to drive. •SRC committee has be gun working on a first year student survey to see why students chose to come to Guilford. •Budget Committee has set time lines for when new budgets have to be submit ted as well as a deadline for when officers have to be named of different organiza tions. Brian Burton also an nounced that requisitions are to be due on Monday, 5 p.m. instead of Tuesday. •Senior Commencement Committee Chair Laura Deßlois announced that there will be a Seniors' meet ing Friday, 1:30 p.m. • Facilities Committee will make a final decision on the Garden next Wednesday. • Tony DeValesco and Luisa Constanza went to the M.L.K. forum. They re ported that there was general approval to make M.L.K. day a holiday that students take off for planned activi ties.
