Kasun has been accepted to spend a semester abroad in Guadalajara. "I've learned a lot from the pro cess of running for election, and feel that we've helped in solidify ing the leadership for next year by pushing them to think about what they stand for. I am interested in sharing some of our platform ideas with Rich and hope he will appro priate them." Remmes plans to limit his in volvement with Senate next year saying, "I feel like I've given the students a choice and I've given them my best ideas." Remmes extended congratula tions and expressed his confidence in the Ewell ticket: "I think that a very good ticket is in office. Sen ate should do very well next year." Of the election results, Jaravaza said, "Basically, people voted for Rich and he deserves to be in there. They're all very capable people." Tomlinson, who will consider working on Senate next year, ex tended thanks to the other mem bers of his ticket and his support ers and cited his ticket's integrity as "our one glowing achievement." Tomlinson said, "I believe we ran a very fair and honest cam paign, one deserving of respect. I, along with my colleagues, wish all of Rich's ticket the very best in Senate next year. Steering Com mittee was in agreement that all should go out during the time of meeting to solicit donations...Senators ask the community to also do their part in gaining donations for this auction which benefits students. • Senate apologizes for not presenting the Ultimate constitution, AGAIN!!! Sorry, it will be up for ap proval next week. • Ten Freeman told Sen ate members that if they or their constituents had con cerns about their advisors that Kathy Adams will be at the next Senate meeting to answer questions. • Wade Tomlinson re ported that the Senate files are in safe keeping outside of the Guilfordian's com puter. • Four senators were ap proved today. Adrienne Massanari, Khurram Qadri, and Joe Wallace were all ap proved as Binford senators. Katherine Beldner was ap proved as a Bryan senator. • Brian Burton announced three budgets: John's Island Trip ($2081), the Texas Trip ($545), and the Student Loan Fund Auction. STEERING COMMIT TEE MEETING (the fol lowing is from the Steering minutes because everyone went to solicit during the meeting). • (Student Services Comm.) James Green re ported that his committee will be visting Mars College to see how their cafeteria works. • Student Residence Council Comm. reported that Kevin Olive came to talk about RA's responsibil ity to be properly trained to be more receptive to homo sexuals and other different sensitivities. • Student Loan Fund Auc tion has found more acts and is working on advertisement for the dance that is planned after the auction.
