Corrections News Faculty continued from pg. 1 Some also worry that the membership of the task forces is not representative enough of the faculty as a whole to make good decisions. As mentioned before, Kathy Tritschler worries about the fate of her depart ment. "My biggest concern is that the area of sports studies is so poorly understood as an aca demic disciplne by the vast ma jority of my colleagues," said Tritschler. "People who do not fully understand a department or program are going to have a hard time finding the right place for them in the curricu lum." Charles "Monty" Milner has been a part of the Guilford community for a long time Milner continued from pg. 1 the Guilford community. He graduated with a degree of eco nomics in 1963 and served as a member of the Board of Visitors between 1976 and 1979. He has also acted as class reunion chair and Loyalty Fund chair. He re mains a member of the Friends of the Guilford College Library, Heri Groves feels that even though the criteria for task force membership stated that the task forces would be "inclu sive," dissenters have been left out. "Faculty members per ceived as critical were excluded. When you exclude the critics of a process from the process, people who have the most seri ous questions are not given a structured way to particpate." Most of the dissenters, even with the concerns they are ex pressing, want to cooperate. "A lot of us who are critical of the process and deeply con cerned about the level of faculty cuts are still trying to work as contructively as possible with the process," said Groves. tage Society, Friends Center, and Quaker Club. The Alumni Asso ciation honored him in 1994 with a Distinguished Service Award. McNemar bid him farewell saying, "I will miss his vision, lead ership, and energy. Members of the Board of Trustees and the Guil ford community join me in thank ing him for the many contribu tions he has made over the past 15 years." , The Guilfordian October 3,1997
