Tatum SPORTS EDITOR Women's Basketball Women's basketball sensa tion senior Arden Miller has been chosen as one of ten fi nalists for the Jostens Trophy, an annual award given out to the top player of the year in Division 111 basketball. Finalists for the Jostens Trophy receive nomination from a national selection com mittee. The committee mem bership includes college coaches, former athletes, col lege administrators, and se lected members of the media. Criteria for the top award include basketball ability, aca demic ability, and community service. Miller just wrapped up her final season as a Quaker, posting back-to-back double doubles in the first two rounds of the NCAA Division 111 tour nament, her eighth; and ninth for the season respectfully. Miller also received sec ond team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) honors alongside Quaker team captain junior Erin Beacham at the league's annual awards banquet during tournament festivities in Salem, Va., in late February. Men's Lacrosse The Men's lacrosse team is enjoying their first 3-0 start since 1992, having defeated Ri chard Stockton in a thrilling 10-9 overtime victory Tuesday. The winning shot by se nior attackman Jason Gauthier came 44 seconds into the overtime period amidst loose-ball scrambling near the Richard Stockton goal. Stock ton goalie senior Doug Mineur had stepped out of his cage attempting to pick up the ball but Vvas unable to gain posses sion. Women's Lacrosse Women's lacrosse posted their first victory of the season Monday with an 11-8 victory over host Greensboro College. Sophomore midfielder Me lissa Urann led the Quakers with a career-high five goals. After trailing 4-1 at halftime, Guilford (1-3 on the year) opened the second half with an eight-goal run in the first ten minutes. The women played ODAC rival Washington and Lee Wednesday. Baseball Guilford split a double header with ODAC rival Wash ington and Lee last weekend, bringing their record this sea son to 7-6 overall, 1-1 ODAC. After losing the first game 6-3, Guilford rebounded with 12-3 win in the nightcap guided by six solid innings from senior pitcher Eric Pelletier. Pelletier has won three straight for the Quakers.
