Greetings all, and welcome
Trustees and other invited
guests.
As most know, today we
invite our Board of Trustees
into our midst. Joining us in
our classrooms, our offices,
and even in our cafeteria, I
know we will all extend warm
hearts, minds and of course
food, to these honored mem
bers of our community.
With Spring Break just
around the corner, more and
more sectors of our communi
ty are moving into prepara
tions for next year, none the
least of which are our student
groups and organizations.
With the very short month of
March in our midst, the time
for transition and secession is
now upon us.
Applications and ballots for
some of our major clubs on
campus are now available at
the information desk. Namely,
applications for Editor-in-Chief
of The Quaker (yearbook),
The Guilfordian (student
newspaper), or The Piper (lit
erary magazine) can now be
submitted. All applications are
due by 5 p.m. on March 4.
Proposals:
Cool 2 b Cool Conference- Approved for minimum $3,600
Bioretention Cell construction- Approved for $1,500
Biohazard request for additional funding- Approved pending update
Advanced Anti Racism training- Decision Pending
"Reach for the Rock" (Rock Wall)- Update pending

Senate/Union forums will be
held the week prior to elec
tions. ELECTIONS ARE ON
TUESDAY MARCH 22.
Though elections will be
done online this year, stu
dents will only have access to
the polls in Boren lounge from
7a.m. until 7p.m.
Make sure your completed
ballot is in by next Friday.
Write-in Ballots will be consid
ered based on the rules and
guidelines outlined by the
Elections Committee.
There will be an information
session March 2 in Boren
lounge; it will cover the rules
of campaigning, expectations
for the forums, as well as the
basic elections process. For
more details, or if you have

For all those interested in
occupying any of these posi-

tions for the 2005-2006 aca
demic year, please make sure
you adhere to all deadlines so
that your applications can be
processed. If you are unsure
about what is people in these
positions due, the general
responsibilities of an editor-in
chief, the expectations of a
Senate or Union exec.
Or, if you simply want to
know more about any of
these organizations, do not
hesitate to contact the people
who currently hold these posi
tions. Senate office hours are
posted on the office door, in
Founders room 206.
Members of Steering are also
in the cafeteria every
Wednesday from noon to 1:30
p.m. for "Senate in the Caf"
(just look for the white Board).
For those not interested
running, I urge you to take an
active part in the elections
process. Students in these
positions effectively control
our newspaper, yearbook,
radio station, student activity
funds ($330/ student x ~1150
students = ~5375,000), repre
sent us in various campus
committees, determine club
budgets, handle special
requests, and act as our
advocates both in times of
tranquility and in times of cri
sis.
Taking part can be as sim
ple as showing up for a forum
enjoying some light refresh
ments and asking a question
that is important to you. As
these students voluntarily
commit themselves to working
to maintain and establish new
resources and privileges that
we enjoy as Guilford College
students, we in turn should
