Second Fresh—“Ain’t it grand?” but heavens, I haven’t a thing to wear to the banquet. My o-ld evening dress is almost in shreds. I’ll simply have to get another. First Fresh—My evening dress will pass in a crowd, but I’ll be compelled to buy a number of small articles. Third Fresh—^What are you all talking about? Buying clothes? By the way, it’s freezing cold and as yet I haven’t a coat Just as soon as my allowance arrives I’m goiing straight up town and buy one and also a little hat to match. I don’t know a thing about the different shops, do you? Second Fresh—No, I don’t, but I noticed loads of ads in the Salemite- Let’s get a copy and look at them- First Fresh (reading) — Listen, Rosehbacher’s, Milwards, The Ideal, Anchor Store, Quality Hat Shop, Eisenberg’s—all of these have ready- to-wear departments. Now don’t for get the names, because we must visit them when we go up town. IT IS NOT EASY— To apologize. To begin over. To admit error. To be unselfish. To be charitable. To endure success. To keep on trying. To forgive and forget. To keep out of the rut. To make the most of a little. To shoulder a deserved blame- BUT IT ALWAYS PAYS! —The Hallegram. PLANS FOB ARMISTICE DAY AT DAVIDSON. An address by Rev. B- R. Lacy, D- D., pastor of the First Presbyterian church of Atlanta, and an exhibition drill by the R. 0. T. C- battalion will be the chief features of the Armistice COLLEGE BELLS (With humble and timid apologies.) Hear the ringing of the bells— Rising bell! But the hour of its clanging not a single girl can tell Hear it ringing, ringing, ringing, In the chilly air of mom! And the maidens who are napping Never heard this mournful tapping; All oblivious of the time, time, time. And the dreaded morning chime Still are napping, still are napping, Despite the awful warning tapping. Hear the jangling breakfast bell— Horrid bell! What a lot of scurry its sounding does impel! Oh the startled way of hurrying For there’s no time left for worrying, With any kind of bow or lace. We can only race, race, race Down the stair! With a desperate appealing to the mercy of Miss Stipe, With a silly self-delusion that the Council yet may wipe From the record of the days. All our lazy, tardy ways. Oh the bell, the bell, the bell, What a tale of terror in the morning it does tell! Hear the tolling of the bell— Sad class bell! What a world of daily grind does that manady foretell! The confusion in the hall— E’en the stoutest might appal, Oh the eternally fierce menace of that rush, For the girls that wildly run Are as reckless as the Hun, Though the teachers—yes the teachers They are better than the preachers Some maintain, Yet the tolling, tolling, tolling, Of that dreary, weary moan Seems as though it might be rolling On the student’s heart a stone. Day celebration. The morning will be given over to speech making. The drill will take place in the afternoon, each company pulling off a stunt.
