EDITORIAL.
Now that the Christmas holidays
are fast approaching it devolves upon
each student to keep the standard of
her work up to par.
Students are not the only ones
whom the coming of Christmas, with
its round of pleasures and gaieties,
thrills. The faculty are just as hu
man—they, too, would, I am sure, like
to grow lax in their work about a
week before vacation begins, but do
they give way to their desires? If
they should do so there would be no
need of classes at all for that last
week. Then why not mcyve up the
vacation a week? The same tale
would be repeated, until finally there
would be no school at all—only vaca
tion.
If the faculty thus have to continue
their work until the last hour, it is the
student’s place to do the same. You
argue that the acticois of one or two
in such an affair cannot have much
weight; but if one or two are lax in
their work it is the privilege of others
to do the same. If we all gave up,
would not the outcome be the same as
in the case of the faculty?
Thus it is the duty of each student
to prepare each day’s lessons just as
carefully as though the time for Santa
Claus W'ere not drawing near, up to
the last lesson on the last day.
