Isabel Pollock bored the fac ulty with a fairy story about Mother Hubbard’s youngest son who climbed a bean stalk and took the Sleeping Beauty away from Prince Charming while Jack and Jill were looking for Little Boy Blue’s lost sheep. One after one the teachers fell asleep, except Miss I.awrence and ’ Riggan, who still clung to their lit tle packages. They finally present ed these to Susan with their best wishes .Miss Riggan had brought a large piece of coal and Miss Law rence had two matches. (It was learned later that the Juniors sold these gifts at an auction .sale so they tould buy gold fish.) Every one kept hanging around, waiting for refreshments. Finally two or three timid Freshmen became boi.strous and demanded food, mediately the Juniors served most delicious ice water ever found in Society Hall. On each plate wert also a paper napkin and two tooth- About 12 o’clock the Juniors asked their guests to leave because Santa Claus was coming and there ' only fifty-one shopping days until Christmas. Every one went home, declaring .she had a miserable time. The .Juniors, however, enjoyed their own party so much that they plan to have one every week. JUNIORS ARE VICTIMS OF REVENGEFUL PUPILS The friends and relatives of Miss es Grace Pollock, Ruth McLeod, Lib I.eake, Mary Sample and Ret Red- fern will regret to learn that these unfortunate young ladies were con fined to the school infirmary dur ing the pa.st week. This confine ment resulted from an overindul gence at a mid-nite feast several nights ago. Rumor ha.s it that some slightly tainted food was substi!^ tuted for the original delicacies in a spirit of revenge by a few recently molested individuals. However, the reporter feels a delicacy in express ing her own personal opinion, and can only join in with the re.st of the student body in offering much need ed sympathy. But are you giving your child or your children the good S light they need for their home studying? g In many of the schools light is still poor, so it is especially important to § provide good light where children’s home work is d«ne. 8 See that the lamps they use are of sufficient wattage to give plenty of g light and that there can be no glare in their eyes, either direct or re- S fleeted. g Poor light makes concentration difficult, brings on fatigue and drowsi- S ness quickly, is damaging to young eyes, and is often responsible for 8 faulty posture, which is a danger to be guarded against. « Southern Public Utilities Co.
