Tlie varsity contest was a ni|)-and- luck battle imtil the ./uniors s,.urtcd in (he last half to win the victory. Thi- .Juniors grabbed a 22-18 lead at half-time and pushed this t( to ;S2 in a whirlwind third period attack. Huntington featured the scoring drive for the Juniors, while the de fensive play of the guards. Riles, Pollock ami Pctree stood out in the McNeely proved the scoring ace for the Fresli with Rondthaler feat uring the defensive work. Hotli teams showed fast passing and accurate shooting and the game was interesting throughout. The Freshmen Reserves, led by Draper, went into a quick lead in the seccmd game and soon ran out a safe margin. The visitors led at half- time, 26 to 4.. Draper, I.yons and Stimson played excellent basket ball at the forward ])osts while Torrence and Ward put ti a fine exhibition at guarding. SOPHS DIVIDE WITH SENIORS Senior Varsity Wins While Reserves Loa^ in Game The Seniors and Sophomores vided a fast double-lieader in basket ball in the championship race Wednesday, March 1, the Seniors winning the varsity game, 29 to 16. and the Sophomores taking the re serve game by the count of 29 to 11. Tlu‘ defensive play of the guards featured tiu' varsity game with the guarding on the part of the two teams halting the highly vaunted forwards at every turn. The for wards, under tight work of thei: rivals could never get started and only O’Brien found the range with success. Her floor work and pass ing also stood out for the Seniors. The Seniors forged into an early lead and held the front throughout^ in this game, holding a 13—6 n 'I'he Sophs turned the tables the reserve game and played as unit to halt the Seniors at ev turn. It started out not so good but has .sti;ad- ily improved and thi. F'reshman-Jun ior game was the best one yet played. Triangle defense slow'S up the game, but when the I'reshman guards get their eye on the ball it breaks up considerably the forty-five degree angle shots of the Junior forwards. There has been some discussion to whether the Sophomores will play in the championship game. For some reason or other it has been said that the Sophomores will have to play the Seniors again. In the Ath letic Council meeting it was decided that the first game wins would count 2, the second 1 and ties 1-2. Ac cording to this the Sophomores are 1-2 point ahead of the Seniors and 1-2 point is after all 1-2 point. STUDENT BODY VOTES TO ENTER N. S. F. A.
