COHEN’S Smart Women’s Wear “Serving You is £ Pleasure” VESPER SERVICE IS WELL ATTENDED The Vesper service Sunday eve ning was one of the most interesting which has been held this year. Many girls attended. Reverend Edmund Sehwartze, pastor of the Cavalry Moravian Church and a member of the Salem Board of Trustees gave an illustrated lecture on the Holy Land. The moving pictures followed the events of the Passion Week, follow ing the Savior over the Mount of Olives and into the Holy City. The scenes were taken in 1931 by Dr. Sehwartze and were tinted by Mrs. Sehwartze. Vespers were led by Susan Calder. After the interesting lecture Ma.ry Mills sang “The Prayer Perfect’”’ by Oley Speaks. MISS READ SPEAKS Last week at the Thursday morn ing Music Club Miss Hazel Horton Read, head of the String Instrument Department at Salem, spoke on String Instruments. Mliss Read dis cussed in detail the history of the violin, the origin of the string quar tet, the construction and the use of instruments. Her talk was illus- ■ated, and was greatly enjoyed. EDUCATION CONFERENCE Beginning February 22 and lasting through February 27, there will be nation-wide' education conference i Cleveland, Ohio. Attending this coi ference will be Dr. McDonald and Mr. McEwen. This conference will be a joint meeting of the National Education Association, The National Association of College Teachers of Education and Kappa Delta Pi, of which both Dr. McDonald and Mr. McEwen are members.
