All three of these girls are from Winston- and* have studied voice under Irnest Schofield, head of the department of Sajem.i Miss Kimel graduated fi years ago, Salem while Miss Mills and Miss Bagby are still pupils at the present. Miss Hazel Horton Reade will be the concert master of the orchestra. Orpheus was first produced in the ate 18th century, marking at the :ime, a change from the artificial, itilted operas of the Italian Neapoli tan School to a more normal and dramatic form. It has since held important place in all the opera houses of the world. The story is that of the myth of Orpheus which is concerned with his seeking his dead wife, Eurydice, in the under world. The spell of his music is so great that the gods permit him to lead Eurydice out of Hades alive, pro vided he does not look back. " Orpheus does look back ove shoulder and his wife dies once The myth ends here, but in the opera Eurydice is restored to life again and ali finishes happily. The concert will be free and open to the public.' It is one of the out standing events of commencement and is certainly worth while hearing. Delegates were sent by the Student Government to Washington tor the N. S. F. A., and to Tennessee for S. I. A. S. G., so the grasshopper will have to do some tall hopping to touch all the Student Gov ernment projects. The big Athletic event of the fall was the Hockey Tournament, won by the Sophomores, and the Hockey Ban quet. In the spring came the Basket ball tournament, also won by the Sophomores, and the Basketball Ban quet. Then there was the introduc tion this year of archery and ring tennis. The tennis tournament, horse show."and swimming meet are among the last stops for the weary grass- He has two more — Exams and Commencement!
