THE SALE MITE
Page Three.
THE LADY AUTUMN
Look quickly;
Then turn your eyes away—
Look closely;
But look not thus on her again—
Outstretched across the sky.
Her amber hair, her tinted nails,
A fiery banner,
A challenge to, the world
And me!
But, oh, I
It is
Death
Creeping slowly, softly, sprightly.
We are not sad that she has taken
wings.
We would not have her so again—
Speak not of Autumn’s beauty—^It is
pain—■
A pent up joy for sweet forbidden
things.
—Oh yes,
The air is brisk,
The weather’s fair
Gaze about with sleep-dulled eyes
And casually remark to your
nighbor
That it’s a gala, gorgeous maple
A lovely day.
But once
Look quickly
Then turn your eyes away.
SENIORS HAVE THE
“GOBUGS”
The Seniors must have decided to
celebrate er sompin’ this week-end.
They certainly took off to other
points.
Cokey Preston and Eachel Carroll
journeyed to Davidson, whence they
reported an excellent time. Dorothy
Moore left in the middle of the week
for Thomasville. Humm, Dot, have
you gone “Curlee?”
Homeward went Julia Lee Little
and Sarah Johnston. Bushy McLean
spent the week-end with our friend
Hadley.
Up from State came a little short
boy to see a little short girl. Says
Fannie Hill, “I walked into the liv
ing room and there was Alan.” And
From South Carolina came the
“Bakey” Man (even though the
bank did burn), and Martha Binder
was satisfied. Happy landings, Sen
iors! Make the most of this last
year.

“What’s the idea of that cross
eyed man for a store detective?”
“Well, look at him. Can you tell
who he is watching?”

HOW NOT TO LIGHT A BRIDGE TABLE
Tliink of trying to play bridge by the light of two candles, stuck in
bottle tops. Yet that is the equivalent of the light in many homes
— a level of illumination that will make any party drag.
For gayer, livelier parties, use an indirect portable lamp. It pro
vides the ideal light shadowless and glareless — for playing bridge
and other games in comfort . . . and an equally efficient light for
a quiet evening of reading.
Phone Southern Public Utilities Co. and ask for a free demonstration
of the new type direct-indirect lamp in your home.

DAVID H. JARVIS, '36-STUDENT OF
MECHANICAL ENGINEERING. ' Poring
over charts and figures for that Mechanical
Engineering degree makes a fellow pretty
tired at times—but smoking Camels helps a
lot,” reports David Jarvis. "When I feel
my alertness and energy slipping away, I
light a Camel. In no time I lose that 'all in’"
feeling. I like the taste of Camels better, too.
It is a fact that Camels are different—richer,
milder. And I can smoke them one after
another without ever bothering my nerves.”
