Page Four. THE SALEMITE Friday, January 17, 1936. GERTRUDE SCHWALBE REPORTS ON N.S.F.A. CONFERENCE (CONTINUED FROM PAGE ONE) students of America to take the initiative in helping national friend ships. In the afternoons, discussion groups were held, where one came face to face with such statements as; “War is a biological phenomena. What will wo do with uneducated adoles cents? Why doesn’t America join the League T The NYA? Miss Schwalbe concluded: “It may seom wrong to tell you at the end of this review that the theme of the Congress was ‘Youth in a Changing World,’ but perhaps if you try to think back over what I have .said you can see that the benefits of such a congress do not lie in the good it docs a college or the good it does on individual. This tyi>e of meeting in my opinion is merely a gesture slKiwing American adults and adults of the world what our generation is tliinking and how we as students and tomorrow’s leaders regard the things they have done and are doing.” An adventure is an inconvenience rightly considered. (NSFA) — The Literary Editor and two co-editors of The Red and Blue, University of Pennsylvania literary publication, were placed on probation until Feb ruary and barred from all extra-curri cular activities in the future as a result of the publication of a poem, ‘ ‘ Wanted, One Twin, ’ ’ called sac- religious by University administra tors. The fate of the author of the poem has not yet been determined. Since all copies of the magazine were immediately recalled by ad ministration it was impossible for the student body to judge the merits of the j>oem. The administration is appointing editors to replace those barred so that the exact nature of the piece will probably not be un covered through the staff of the pub lication. Students on the campus are offering as high as $15 for a c()])y which may have found its way out of the office. Undergraduate groups on the Uni versity campus are reported to be preparing a statement asking the administration for an open hearing on the merits of the poem in ques tion.
