The senior dinner, which is to be held on June 3rd, is always a very secret affair and no outsider is ever Rupi>osed to know what goes on dur ing the meal. It has been rumored, however, that each senior who is to be married in the near future leaves her place and runs around the table, thus announcing her engagement. ALUMNAE DAY Saturday, June 4th, will be Alum nae Day. At 11:0(> a. m., the Ahim- nae Board will meet in the Trus tee’s room, and from 11:00 to 12:00, class reunions will be held. The general Alumnae business meeting will take place at 12 o’clock in the assembly hall of the library. The Alumnae Luncheon is at 1:30 in the college dining room. Saturday night at 8:30, the annual commence ment concert will be presented in Memorial Hall. This concert is to be followed by the President’s re ception in Main Ilall at 10 o ’clock. BACCALATJREATE SERVICE The Baccalaureate service on Sun day, .June 5th, will be held in the Home Moravian Church. Bishop Robert E. Gribbin, of Asheville, N. C., is to be the speaker. At 5:30 on Sunday afternoon, a buffet sui>- per will be given on the President’s lawn for the alumnae, seniors, and their guests. Senior vespers will take place at 7 o’clock on Upper Cam pus. The climax of all these ceremon ies will come on Monday, .June 6th Commencement Exercises. At 11:00 o’clock the college bell will be rung and the commencement procession will enter Memorial Hall. The or der of procession is to be as follows: administration, guests of honor, the speaker, marshalls, seniors faculty .and alumnae. Dur ing this cereiimony, college and class honors will bes, announced, and de grees conferred upon the members of the graduatii g class. Thus will end the colleife- days of Salem’s Class of ’38. SALEM COLLEGE HOST TO ACADEMY GIRLS Guests Attend Freshmen Plays and Remain Over night At the College Salem College entertained a num ber of Academy girls as overnight guests last Friday evening. The girls arrived at the college after at tending the Archery Banquet at the Academy. They attended the Fresh man Plays, after which they with ■their hostesses were taken to Se lected Dairies by Margaret McLean and Jean Knox. Saturday morning the visitors returned to the Acad emy. The guests were: Nancy Kenna, Charleston, W. Va.; Lola Whisnant, Charlotte, N. O.; Margaret Vardell, Winston-Salem, N. C.; Ruth Burton, Henderson, N. C.; Jeanne Gartrell, Oakland, N. J., Hannah Ranche, Rockingham, N. C.; Caroline Mead ows, Rocky Mount, N. C. The college girls acting as hos tesses were: Jackie Ray, Ora Holt Long, Lee Bice, Peggy Jones, Mar jorie Peterson, Esther Alexander, and Mildred Minter.
