Page Four. THE SALEMITE Friday, Metrch 8, 1940. Ath-a-letic Sal tig t ....Thoes of us who have worn those woolen purple shirts for four, three two or even One year welcome the arrival of the green pinneys. Any of you who have avoiderl practice because of fear of a heat stroke from the hot shirts, can throw away that fear now and come down wp’ll guarantee those cool pinneys to'pra- vent any kiild of ' stroke except maybe luck. ' Maybe the publicity Bralower got from l^er wld ride a few weeks ago has also publicized the riding groups, because the members of those who are planning to ride this term has been greatly increastid.. That’s the spirit! We wish you siiccess “on the bumpy road to fun.” Here’s hoping the interest in Badiminton will continus until and through the tournament. It should begin very soon now, so you’d better get that racquet to swinging and the bird to singing (oh, a rhyme!). I am glad to urge more college people to play golf because of the added sunshine and fresh air they will enjoy. I know that an increase in interest and participation in golf in the colleges will bring much hap piness and health to collegians. When I think of the enjoyment and comfort I have received from golf, I can heartily congratulate the col lege boys and girls who have de termined to play it themselves. The college girl who expects to succeed at any sjxirt must not be be practice and then mare practice, be practice a ndthen more practice. As a matter of fact, the earlier on begins to play golf the better, and then after the beginning it is prac tice, practice, practice. If one finds himself physically and mentally inclined towards golf, he will Ikj rejoiced to find that his choice has given him a life-long sport, a gjime to be enjoyed from youth to old age. To thi).se who have never played the game, I would say, begin now. L«iy at once a solid foundation for future health and enjoyment, for golf insures exercise in the open HOME EC. They returned to Winston-Salem by the southern route.
