Wanted: An artist to paint eyes on students ’ eyelids so they can sleep in class. “Shall we join the girls?” “What’s the matter, they com ing apartf' Bride (at bank): “I want to open an account.” Teller: “Fine! How much do you wish to deposit!” Bride: “Oh, I want a charge ac count like I have at the stores.” “THE EIGHT O’CLOCK CLASS” OB “GBOWING UP IN COLLEGE.” FEESHMAN: Book open, paper ready, pen poised. SENIOB: Turning off the alarm clock. “Don’t think it ain’t been charm ing” — yes, that is the current ex pression that decorates, at least once, every annual on third floor. Our annual, though marred by just such expressions, has marked the close of “another year” for the sopho mores, juniors, and seniors, but to the freshmen this year has meant much more. It has been a year full of fun, heart-aches, problems which we have had to solve by ourselves, and plenty of hard work. ' The novelty of college life was frightening at first, and quoting our beloved annual, we were “a strag gling, dazed group.” But now, we may be classified as the “old” girls and we are ready to sympathize with the “greenies” which next Sep tember will bring. This year has made us love Salem and afl that belongs to it. It has been not only the many opportuni ties of enlightment, such as: Ice land Stowe, John Mason Brown, and various others, but also our oppor tunities to bring out the best in us: congeniality, talents, and character. Considering all that this year has offered us I think that it suffices to say — “Don’t think it ain’t been charming.” Early to rise, the same to bed. Makes a man wealthy, but socially dead. Sophomore: “Did you take a shower?” Freshman: “No. Why? Is there I one missing?” Wife: “Before we were married, George, you were always giving me presents. Why don’t you give me any now?” Husband: “My dear, did you ever hear of a fisherman giving bait to a fish he had caught?” A puncture is a small hole in a tire, usually a long way from a garage.
