Salem is unusually fortunate in having the opportunity to witness the 1941 meets according to Elcfanor Hutchinson, pre.sident of the Athe- tic Association. “The cooperation of all students in making the day a success will bo appreciated.” Above all Salem must be repres ented by a group which shows ex perienced teamwork as well *s the skill of individual players. Hockey practice will be held every after noon from 4:00 to 6:00.” TENNIS TOURNAMENT AT SEMI-FINALS Carolina Sun.-Mon.-Tues; “Unfinished Business’ Wed.-Thurs.-Fri.-Sat. “Sun Valley Serenade” State Sun.-Mon. “Sailors on Leav«” Tues. “We Go Fast” — On Stage “Powder and Lipstick Eevue” Wed.-Thurs.-Fri.-Sat. “Down Mexico Way” ' Forsyth Sun.-Mon.-Tues. “A Woman’s Face” Wed. “Broadway Limited” Thurs. “Million Dollar Baby” Fri.- Sat. “In the Navy” Colonial Sun.-Mon. “Bad Man” Tue.«i. “The Penalty” Wed. “Strawberry Blonde” Thurs. “Border of Vigilantes” Kri.-Sat. “Cyclone on Horseback” Any Salomites wandering down by the tennis courts this week or last, have heard the sound of a ball hitting a racket with a real “zing.” Why? The tennis tour nament has been in full swing with the upperclassmen trying to win in doubles, and the Freshmen do ing their best in a singles tourna ment. For the past two weeks it was any Salemite’s chance to be a cham pion in tennis. * Now, however, the field has narrowed down and the semi-finals are to be played some time next week. In the Freshman class, Carolyn Goodson will battle against the win ner in a game between Joyce Woot en and Jay Flannigan. Eddie Baughm and Ann Long will compete against the winners of the game between Inez Parrish and Nancy McClung versus Phillis Hill and Mary Lib Rand. Names of the winners in each tournament, will be pasted on the bulletin board outside the day stu dents building. The way to love anything is to realize that it might be lost. —6. K.
