A. A Welcomes New Athletes by dinky dinkscales Welcome to Salem! Welcome to this organization, that organization, and most of all to the Athletic Association. For a whole week now you new students have been continually welcomed. There hav^ been pajama parties, community sings, picnics, and teas. But after we settle down to the regular routine of sleeping, eating, playing bridge, and occasionally attending classes, the parties will subside and the various organizations will really get into action. When, it cornes to action, your A. A. is not one to be left behind, fn case you don’t realize it, you have been benefiting from it al ready. T refer, of course, to the swimming pool. Soon we will be enjoying all the fall sports—tennis, golf, and our major sport hockey. In the winter the basketball season gets underway. And in the Spring our main sport is softball. For our three major sports— hockey, basketball, and softball— we have tournaments in which each class competes for the champion ship. These games are very ex citing and they really bring out the old class spirit. Before the opening game of every season, we have a pep rally and a huge bon fire. Each class selects cheer leaders to lead them in their favo rite yells. No one wants to miss this chance to support her team. C. I’hone 6413 cord for the year at these games. Besides these class tournaments, and the individual tournaments, such as tennis, badminton, ping-pong and archery, your A. A. also spon sors several dances a year. And at the end of the year there is a banquet for the entire student body. These are just a few of the high lights of the activities of the A. A. We think it is one of the best- or ganizations on campus, and we sincerely hope you agree with us. Remember, “It’s all the way with the A.
