Final try-outs for LiHom, the first dramatic presenta tion of the year are to be held then. The play has a large cast and all students, particularly fresh men and men students, are urged to come and try-out. Miss Reigner, the director of the Pierrettes, has completed plans for the dramatic productions for the coming year. There will be a Theatre-in-the-Round, which will consist of several experimental one- act jdays. In this type of produc tion, the audience is seated in a circle around the stage, and the plays are presented without benefit of scenery or costumes. Miss Reig ner also plans to do a musical play if the students show sufficient in terest and talent. This play will he of special interest to music stu dents as it will reciuire singing actors. The freshman playp with a cast and production crew consist ing entirely of freshmen, will be given in the spring. New students may become mem bers of the Pierrettes only after earning a certain number of points. Tliese points may be earned in act ing, make-up, or by work on the stage-crew. One must not neces sarily be an actress to become a Pierrette, but only" to show genuine interest and capability in some phase of the theatre. Salem is offering a course in theatre practice, taught by" Miss Reigner, for the first time this year. This course covers both the history of the theatre and practical work. The students in Theatre Practice are to take responsibility for the production angle of the plays presented. The first semester of the course covers theoretical work in acting, while the second semester includes production met hods and directing. The course in Theatre Practice and the Pierrette club are designed primarily for those students who are interested and would like to take an active part in dramatics. So if you’ve been here three years and have been modestly hiding your talents, or if you are a freshman and pulled the curtain for the sen ior play in high school, please come to the try-outs Monday night.
