SUMMER SCHOOL CHOIR The Board of Trustees has an nounced that the School of Music of Salem College will offer a Sum mer School from June 11 to 21, 1950. The Choir School, Dr. Gramley stated, ‘“will be designed to appeal to church choir directors and or ganists and will serve both as a refresher course for experienced persons and as a stimulative aid in knowledge and techniques for those entering the field of religious music.” Dean Vardell and Professor Peterson will be in charge of classes held in Memorial Hall. They will be assisted by guest organists and choir directors. One of the dormitories will be used for students, and meals will be served for them in the Club Din ing Room. A recreational program will be conducted for the students. Subject matter planned includes the following: vocal techniques; service playing for organists; an them repertoire; hymnology; con ducting; choir organization; and repertoire for "junior Choirs, solos and small ensembles. A closing program, open to the general i)ub- lic, will be held at the end of the summer session. The Administration hopes to es tablish the proposed Choir School as a long-term matter.
