The third group, or the peace-
minded people were represented at
Salem by Mr, Sam Levering, who
spoke on the campus during the
past week. Mr. Levering has been
working in a peace movement for
several years. The objective of this
movement mainly is to change the
United Nations from “a debating
society” to a federal world govern
ment—or simply to strengthen the
U. N. Mr. Levering in speaking
to a group of Winston-Salem citi
zens pointed out that already there
are 106 Congressmen and 22 Sena
tors working for such action to be
taken by the U. S. Government. Mr.
Levering further stated that indivi
duals such as Salem students need
not feel helpless. Through the
International Relations Club, which
has recently been reorganized at
Salem, an active program for peace
education can be effected. Another
channel through which we can edu
cate for peace is the church, Mr.
