THE SALE MITE October 28 1949 Tie Is Result Of 1st Game In Hockey by Clinky Clinkscales “Come on Seniors, tackle ’em!” shouted the senior supporters from the sidelines of the hockey field on Thursday a week ago. Their cries were answered only by the fresh men screaming out with loud and vigorous voices, “Fight, team, fight”. Well, the seniors tackled and tack led, and the freshmen fought and fought. But, after all that expen diture of energy, the first hockey game ended with a 0-0 tie. The game itself was evenly matched, as the results show. Each team took turns charging down to his opponents goal, only to chase the ball back again when the goalie gave it a powerful drive. All of the girls on both teams played exceptionally well. , Out standing on the senior team were Ruth Lenkoski, Beverly Johnson, and Helen Kessler, who put up an extra hard fight against the fresh men. On the latter team, girls that deserve a special “pat on the back” were Adrienne McCutcheon, Pat Ripple,. Sallie Knight, and Coatsie Douglas.
